On the Road - Banff to Waterton Lakes

We stopped off at Moraine Lake this morning for a few more pictures, a hike up the Rockpile, and souvenirs.

We started heading southeast towards Waterton Lakes, enjoying our last views of Banff National Park.

We decided to take a scenic route by driving through Kananaskis County and its Provincial Parks. We stopped for a picnic at this lovely location.

As we continued through the park we spotted several female big horn sheep walking in the road.

And shortly after we met the male big horn sheep.

We arrived at our hotel in Waterton Lakes and picked a short trail to hike.

We got lost twice and ended up on a mosquito infested, overgrown path. We opted to cut the hike short and go out for  ice cream instead.

On our walk back to the hotel we ran into a mountain goat wandering through the streets. He looked a bit lost.

Tonight we'll head to Cameron Lake for star gazing. Tomorrow we'll hope for better luck with our trail choices.
